The project aims to assist Bulgaria in the implementation of the framework directive on waste disposal (Directive 75/442/EG). During the project a detailed analysis of the Bulgarian rules and regulations on waste management have been made in order to establish a stable ground for implementation of the EU requirements. Capacity building on different levels has been provided. The national, local and municipal authorities have been involved in different workshops and trainings on waste legislation, waste management and development of the different aspects of the waste management programs and plans. Under the project the national waste management program of Bulgaria for the period 2009-2013 has been drafted.
